Description

The Herbal Tarot brings tarot and traditional herbalism together in a 78-card deck created by herbalist Michael Tierra and illustrated by Candice Cantin. Based on the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith structure, each card is paired with an herb selected to complement and expand upon its traditional tarot meaning.

The herbal correspondences are an integral part of the deck rather than simply botanical decoration. Plants appear throughout the Major and Minor Arcana, offering another layer through which to explore the archetypes, symbolism, and messages of the cards. Readers familiar with the Rider-Waite-Smith system will find a recognizable foundation while discovering new connections between tarot and the traditional uses and symbolism of plants.

Candice Cantin's illustrations give the deck a warm, nature-centered character, weaving the featured herbs directly into the imagery. This makes The Herbal Tarot particularly appealing for green witches, herbalists, gardeners, and readers whose spiritual practice includes a strong connection with the plant world.

The included companion guidebook provides meanings for all 78 cards, including both upright and reversed interpretations, along with information about the herb associated with each card. Beginners can use the familiar tarot structure and guidebook to learn the deck, while experienced readers can incorporate the herbal correspondences into established reading practices.

Use The Herbal Tarot for traditional tarot readings, meditation, journaling, personal reflection, or as a starting point for exploring the relationship between plant lore and divination.
