Description
Witches Tarot brings traditional tarot into the world of contemporary Witchcraft, combining familiar tarot structure with magickal symbolism, elemental correspondences, ritual imagery, and the cycles of the Wheel of the Year. Created by author and tarot reader Ellen Dugan and illustrated by Mark Evans, the 78-card deck is designed for readers who want tarot and their magickal practice to work naturally together.
The deck draws strongly from the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith tradition while adapting its imagery and symbolism through a Witchcraft-centered perspective. Ritual tools, the natural world, elemental energies, and magickal correspondences appear throughout the richly illustrated cards, providing recognizable foundations for traditional readings alongside additional layers for intuitive and spiritual interpretation.
Several Major Arcana cards have been renamed to better reflect the deck's approach. The Hierophant becomes The High Priest, the Wheel of Fortune becomes The Wheel of the Year, and Judgement becomes Karma. These changes are integrated into the larger tarot system rather than creating an entirely different structure, making the deck accessible to readers already familiar with traditional tarot.
The companion guidebook explores all 78 cards and their meanings while expanding upon the symbolism and magickal correspondences found throughout the artwork. Tarot spreads and additional guidance provide ways to incorporate the cards into daily readings, spellcraft, ritual, seasonal practice, meditation, and personal reflection.
