Description
Dark Wood Tarot takes the traditional 78-card tarot into a shadowed forest where the journey through the cards becomes an exploration of the self. Created specifically with shadow work in mind, the deck uses the familiar framework of Rider-Waite-Smith tarot to examine hidden emotions, recurring patterns, fears, personal strengths, and the parts of ourselves that may be difficult to acknowledge.
The dark forest provides the visual and symbolic setting for the deck. As the cards move through familiar tarot archetypes, the imagery explores the contrast between darkness and light, uncertainty and understanding, and the conscious and hidden aspects of the self. Rather than treating shadow as something inherently negative, Dark Wood Tarot approaches it as territory to be explored through reflection and greater self-awareness.
The deck remains grounded in recognizable Rider-Waite-Smith symbolism, giving experienced readers a familiar foundation for interpretation while adding another dimension for readings centered on introspection and personal transformation. It can be used for traditional tarot readings as well as dedicated shadow work, journaling, meditation, and reflective practice.
A substantial 304-page full-color companion guidebook accompanies the cards, exploring their meanings through the perspective of the Dark Wood and providing guidance for working with the deck's shadow-focused approach. Together, the cards and book offer a structured way to explore the questions and themes that can emerge when tarot is turned inward.
