Description
Spiritsong Tarot interprets the traditional 78-card tarot through the symbolism of animals and the natural world. Created and illustrated by Paulina Fae, the deck draws upon the familiar Rider-Waite-Smith structure while assigning an animal to each card, allowing its characteristics and symbolism to become part of the card's meaning.
Fae's hand-drawn artwork places the animals at the center of each composition, using a soft palette and detailed natural imagery rather than simply recreating traditional tarot scenes with animal figures. The result is a deck that encourages readers to work intuitively with animal symbolism while still drawing upon recognizable tarot archetypes and correspondences.
One of the deck's most distinctive features is its reinterpretation of the four Minor Arcana suits. Acorns correspond to Wands and Fire, Feathers to Swords and Air, Shells to Cups and Water, and Crystals to Pentacles and Earth. These nature-based suits give Spiritsong Tarot its own visual vocabulary while preserving the elemental framework underlying traditional tarot.
The included 108-page companion guidebook provides upright and reversed card meanings, guidance for interpreting the animal symbolism, and custom tarot spreads. It also explores using the cards in an oracle-style practice, giving readers another way to work with the deck beyond traditional tarot readings.
