Lady Lorien's impressions: It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of agarwood. I love it as an incense and gravitate toward its mysterious, deep scent even in the perfumes and oils I wear. In Indian blends, you'll see it referred to as Oudh and, by weight, is more costly than gold. As a component of Japanese incense, the scent is far more refined and subtle, but I think that's true with all of the elements of a quality Japanese blend. Even so, the earthy-sweet agarwood in this incredible incense really stands at the forefront. The blend is balanced with smooth, high-grade Mysore Sandalwood and creamy benzoin. The incense masters at Shoyeido have outdone themselves with this one. I'm amazed at how inexpensive this incense is for the amount of agarwood that must be in the recipe. Truly, burning a stick of this is an ethereal incense experience and is one that I love to burn as I do readings, writing, grading coursework, or working with my students.
