Cultivation:
This plant can easily be trellis trained or even up a sunny wall for seasonal shade and prefers full sun with dryish soil. One of the best germination techniques for this seed is to soak the seeds in warm water for two days. When removing them from water, nick them with a sharp blade and the plant them in warm conditions. Germination will generally occur within 30 days. Another method is giving the seeds 30 days of cold and moist refrigeration before planting in warm soil. A trick provided by the seed harvesters that may give fast results: Soak the seeds in a jar of water placed in the bright sun for two days and nights but up to a week, then plant them in at a 1/2 inch in fast-draining soil mix and keep warm. It is recommended that you work these up in progressively larger pots then add to landscape spacing at four feet apart.
