Our Dragon's Blood resin is from the Socotra dragon tree, Dracaena cinnabari, which grows in Socotra archipelago in the Arabian Sea. Our resin is gathered by hand in keeping with time-honored tradition and done in a way that keeps the tree healthy and well for generations to come. Also known as Sanguis Draconis.
Dragon’s blood has been used in recipes and cultures across the world. In the 15th century, voyagers to the Canary Islands obtained dragon’s blood resin drops from a wounded tree. This resin was traded to ancient Europe on the famous Incense Road.
In folk medicine, a recipe for an external wash is created and is said to help promote healing of wounds and to stop bleeding. Today we use this incredibly fragrant resin in recipes for incense, dyes, and inks. Its deep and rich scent is used to increase the potency of spells, cleansing rituals, and banishing.
Resin incenses are often considered the top of the line in incense burning. With the help of incense charcoals or a resin burner that uses tea light candles (or electricity), you can release the intense fragrance of these resins, without the dilution of a burning base or fixatives typical in man-made stick or cone incense.
Each packet contains 0.5 oz of genuine precious Socotra dragon's blood resin, some small granules and powder will be present in all packages.
