About the pentacle:
The pentacle is a symbol created from a pentagram encased in a circle—the five points of the pentagram, each with meaning. The upward point of the star is representative of the element spirit. The other four points all represent an element; water, fire, earth, and air.
All these elements contribute to life and are a part of each of us. The circle surrounding the pentagram contains and protects, giving life a shell for protection of and against the elements.
The circle also is said to symbolize eternity and infinity, with no beginning and no end. These are the cycles of life and nature.
The pentacle is the passive form implying spiritual containment of the magic circle, in keeping with the traditional secrecy of witchcraft—the personal, individual nature of the pagan religious path, of its non-proselytizing character.
