This plant prefers full sun with slightly alkaline, well-drained soil. It is recommended that you start lavender indoors, sowing the seeds 8-10 weeks before the last frost in winter. These small seeds are light-dependent, tamp the seeds down lightly into the soil, or cover to a depth of 1/8 inch. Transplant the seedlings to a larger container once established. Transplant outdoors once there is no more chance of a frost or freeze. Space plants one foot apart.
